Where do they find crystals?

This is the only public diamond mine in North America, built on the eighth largest diamond crater in the world. It was here that the 8.5-carat diamond was discovered, but the gem was just one of hundreds of remarkable white, brown and yellow diamond jewels found on the property over time. The largest, discovered in 1924, had more than 40 carats. Graves Mountain was first exploited in the 1920s by Tiffany %26 Co, who used the rutile she dug up to polish diamonds.

This mineral-rich mountain is now available for excavation by appointment only to members of the Georgia Mineral Society; however, in April and October, Graves's caretaker will open the land to the public for a 26% rock exchange of the three-day excavations.
